Why don't you just do more showcases and try to get on a label?Because we aren’t the types to sit at home and hope and wait around for someone else to invite us to the party. We throw the party on our own if we’re ready. AND - we’re ready to make a second album, so, it’s party time, kids. We’re hosting, you’re invited.
Besides, we love our band and have decided not to give it away cheap, risking being shoved to the bottom and forgotten. We have seen GREAT band-A&R relationships and if we were to go the label route, we'd want it to be just as cool. Let's just put it this way - the RIGHT invitation to the RIGHT party for Telling on Trixie has not been extended yet. Until then, we are the Little Engine that Could - and that's fine by us. -
Your numbers don't add up - the "About You" doesn't match the Tally total. That's because some people have been giving us checks or cash for amounts that are in between the donation amounts - which is totally fine and very generous. For example, one of our Executive Producers gave us a check for $3,700. So, she falls in the $2,500-$5,000 donation range, which is Executive Producer.

Why don’t you just do Sellagroup, Buyaband, or whatever it’s called? Those sorts of organizations are pretty great, especially for artists who have never made a proper studio album. However, it’s not right for Telling on Trixie. Because we’ve already made our first record, two videos, a remix album, we have seen how much it costs and what it takes. We’ve formed personal relationships with everyone from club owners to radio promoters. Also, we don’t want someone owning our masters for a year. We want to make our own decisions with our own advisors, without getting the approval of some ex-record executives over in Holland. We already have Grammy-winning, platinum-selling producers on board. With those groups, the $50,000 that the artists raise only makes one album, with a third going to the corporation, and no marketing. With our plan, no one is taking a share of our $50k, so we’re going to use the money to make more art (an album and a video) and to actually get it heard through our marketing and publicity people.

Is my donation tax-deductible?No. You’ll simply qualify for the good or service listed in your tier. If you’d rather give your money to charity, please support our charity partner, the American Cancer Society, rather than us. We do an annual event for them called Music for Life because the work they do is incredible and important. We are incredibly blessed to be able to make music and entertain you. The people they serve aren’t as lucky and deserve support.

Why doesn’t Telling on Trixie just find investors? There are too many high-falutin’ bells and whistles to blow and boxes to check. Instead, we are choosing to and make a record solely through support from the People.
-
Is this fansourcing, or crowdsourcing?Yes. But we've made it much more intimate and exciting than most programs you see out there.
-
Is Matt the bass player single?Yes.
-

When does it start/end? What's the timeline?Offically, the Plan will begin May 21, the date of our press release. It ends when we hit $50,000. When we think we have enough to start recording, we'll start the process, and this is something you can keep up with us about in the Backstage Blog and Forum. If all goes well, the album will be released January 2009, and the video will tape around March 2009. That means we have all summer and fall to raise the money. We'll start recording, hopefully, in the Fall 2008.

What is your press contact information? Do you do interviews? We LOVE doing interviews and getting to know hosts, podcasters, journalists, etc. Please email info (at) abandwithaplan.com and we'll be happy to get back to you. Doing interviews and getting press coverage of this will only be second to word of mouth when it comes to our Plan's success. Thanks in advance for the help!
